Biographical Sketch

Anna completed her undergraduate and graduate studies in psychology and political science at the University of Munich, Germany and is currently a PhD candidate at the Observing Minds Lab at the University of Haifa. She was awarded a Minerva Fellowship by Max-Planck-Institute as well as a Varela Award by Mind & Life to support her doctoral research.

Anna’s main research interests involve the cross-cultural application of mindfulness, the potential of mindfulness in trauma therapy and the underlying mechanisms of action in mindfulness practice. In her dissertation research, Anna focuses on the effects and underlying mechanisms of a Mindfulness-Based-Trauma-Recovery (MBTR) Intervention on mental health and wellbeing of traumatized Eritrean refugees residing in Israel.

Anna is an adjunct lecturer at the International School of the University of Haifa. Moreover, she is volunteering in a refugee aid organization providing psycho-social services to African refugees in Tel Aviv.
